The new trustees, selected through the alumni nominations process, begin their five-year terms on April 1, 2018. The new members are Michelle R. Clayman, James D. Halper, Carol C. Lam and Jeffrey E. Stone.

The Board of Trustees and the campus Advisory Panel on Investment Responsibility and Licensing are asking for the input of the campus community on Stanford’s policies and procedures regarding investment responsibility.

A talk by Bill Gates punctuated a joint session of the board and the Council of Trustees, a group composed of former members of the Stanford board.

At its December meeting, the board also discussed federal tax proposals affecting higher education and honored departing trustee Vaughn Williams.

The Board of Trustees provides an update to the Stanford community on its consideration of investment responsibility matters — including an upcoming review of the university’s investment responsibility statement and the conclusion of a review of investment issues around private prisons.

At its Oct. 2-3 meeting, the Stanford University Board of Trustees heard a presentation from President Marc Tessier-Lavigne, honored former chair Steven A. Denning, toured the new Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and approved building projects.

Jeffrey S. Raikes, who joined the Stanford University Board of Trustees in January 2012, took the helm as chair in July and will lead his first meeting of the board this fall.

Felix J. Baker, a managing partner of Baker Brothers Investments, and Jerry Yang, co-founder of Yahoo! and founder of AME Cloud Ventures, will join the Stanford University Board of Trustees on October 1.

The June 14-15 meeting of the Stanford University Board of Trustees was the final one as chair for Steven A. Denning, who has presided as chair since July 2012.

Penner, who earned two master’s degrees at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, is currently serving as a member of its Advisory Council.
