Two campus buildings currently named for Junipero Serra, the founder of the California mission system, also will be renamed, but other campus references to Serra and the mission system will be retained, based on a set of university committee recommendations accepted by the Board of Trustees.
At its final meeting of the academic year, the Board of Trustees also toured the new University Terrace housing and honored departing members Chris Hazy and John Gunn.
Seeking to “demystify” the role of Stanford’s Board of Trustees, Chair Jeff Raikes appeared before the Faculty Senate to discuss the board’s responsibilities and its current areas of focus.
The new trustees, selected through the alumni nominations process, begin their five-year terms on April 1, 2018. The new members are Michelle R. Clayman, James D. Halper, Carol C. Lam and Jeffrey E. Stone.
The Board of Trustees and the campus Advisory Panel on Investment Responsibility and Licensing are asking for the input of the campus community on Stanford’s policies and procedures regarding investment responsibility.
